The Day of the Doctor – Official Trailer – Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special

Seeing as the Doctor who 50th Anniversary Special will be aired in cinemas too, we decided that it was fitting to post about it!

The Doctor has entered his own timestream, following Clara, the Impossible Girl…well, she was the Impossible Girl until…well, never mind!
For some, they had been expecting John Hurt as the new Doctor, whilst others knew who he really was and had their theories confirmed when Peter Capaldi was announced as the new Doctor.
The cast members for this special will be Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and John Hurt, with some other people thrown in to surprise us no doubt along the way.

Unfortunately though, the Doctor’s from the original series haven’t been asked to come back, which we presume was due to their age now, having regenerated at a certain point in time, making any reappearance, unless CGI, impossible.
‘I’m not in it,’ Colin Baker has said, “I can say that Peter [Davison] isn’t because I’ve seen him recently. And I can tell you that Sylvester [McCoy] isn’t, and neither is Paul [McGann]. None of us have been deemed worthy of inclusion in a programme that celebrates 50 years of a British television programme, of which I was in it for three. We are surplus baggage.”
Sylvester McCoy has said, “All of us want to do it, just for the fans, because that’s what they want. But we’ve heard nothing…Tom Baker’s heard nothing, Colin Baker, Peter Davison, Paul McGann… none of us have heard anything.”
It’s also been said that Christopher Eccleston will not be making an appeareance in the special too, so none of the grinning man exclaiming at the screen, “Fantastic!”

This special is going to be epic, with Moffat taking the series in a completely whole new direction apparently, bringing something new to the character that we have never seen before. It’s hard to imagine what hasn’t been approached for the Doctor’s scripts over the years, seeing as it has been a part of culture for 50 years. Whatever the new direction will be, we hope it will be a good one, with great twists and turns to the plots as always.

The BBC has released the main Trailer for the Anniversary Special, which you can watch here!

The Day Of The Doctor will air on Saturday, November 23 at 7.50pm on BBC1
